Amara (Αμαρα) relates to the Greek goddess Hemera, who was also identified as Eos by Pausanias. Amara and Hemera are related in that their Latin names are both “Dius.” The actual translation is “Day.” This makes sense since Hemera is the primordial goddess of the day. Amara, short for "Amarantham," means "eternally beautiful" or "one who will be forever beautiful."
